I found these steel navigation dividers (c.17th-18th century) several years ago and they have now been restored to full working order by veteran mudlark Graham Du Heaume (thanks you Graham). They were rusted, which makes me wonder if they slid off a chart and into the Thames as they were plotting a course. I found them on the foreshore at Rotherhithe at the spot where it is said the Mayflower left on the first leg of her journey to the New World, but it’s far too much wishful thinking to suggest
